Hollywood and Highland

I parked at the Hollywood and Highland Mall tonight.
So after the movies, I go get my car out of the structure.
I leave via the "Highland Blvd" exit.
I head south on Highland.

By the time I get to the intersection of Hollywood and Highland, I can hear sirens going off.
Well, loud sirens - if you can't see them then its better just to stop.
Everyone else stops too.

Except for one woman in a red car who is going north on Highland.
She's behind all the cars that stopped for the siren at the intersection - and she goes around them.
Into the left turn lane, then back into the first lane.

At that time, an ambulance is going east on Hollywood.

The red car gets to the intersection.
And HITS the ambulance.
She makes a quick "right"turn onto Hollywood, to swerve to try to avoid hitting the ambulance,
But ends up totally side-swiping the ambulance.

The ambulance stops.
A Police car pulls up behind it, and says on the load speaker "Don't worry, we've got this one."

By the time I drive passed them, "Disco-Mama in the Red Car" is standing on the sidewalk and is being screamed at by woman police officer.

"Disco-Mama in the Red Car" is a tall model-type woman in a mini-skirt and halter top.
The halter top is decorated in sparkling little mirrors.
"Disco-Mama" is all dressed up to go "clubbing" around Hollywood tonight.

But I don't think she is going to make it.

The cop is a short blond woman, hair in a pony tail and in a dark blue uniform.
And she is screaming !
Screaming at "Disco-Mama", who can only stand on the side of Hollywood Blvd and listen to the verbal "chewing out."

I just drive passed.
To much craziness in Hollywood tonight.

Women Shorts - WOMEN HOLD UP HALF THE SKY

I started my volunteer shift at 12:45 this afternoon, and I worked two shifts for the All Roads Film Festival .

For the first shift, "Women Hold Up Half The Sky: 4 short Films", I was the Ticket Taker and I went in and watched the 4 short films.
For the second shift "The Journey of Vaan Nguyen", I was the Captain and I stayed in the lobby and helped the staff until 8 pm.
So that was about a seven hour Volunteer shift.

I was really looking forward to the four short films. One of the films was Jaisalmer Ayo Gateway of the Gypsies which was really interesting.

I admit that I am not a very "International" person at all.
I guess I relate more to "Californian" or "Angeleno", since I live in Los Angeles.
I really feel the cultural aspects of my life are influenced the most by what goes on right in my own backyard, which happens to be the city of Hollywood.
But Hollywood is so diverse ethnically, I live near Little Armenia, and Thai Town, not to mention the all the other ethnic influences that come with living in a big city.

So that is one thing that the All Roads Film Festival made me aware of today.
There is so much Cultural Diversity in the world. And I realize that alot of it is my own backyard.
So I'd like to learn more about it all.

In addition ... okay, now, getting back to the Flakey Hollywood Aspect of my life ...
I wore the Cutest outfit.

I really tried to be alittle bit more "ethnic" or whatever in how I dressed for these films.
I wore a green and white skirt with large peacock on it. (My mother gave this to me nearly 20 years ago. It was one of the few gifts that she gave me that I really liked and have used.)
And I wore hoop earings with dangling green wood decorations, and a green bracelet with green yarn decorations - both I got from Target .

About five people made really nice comments about my outfit, and how it fit in with the program for the day.
They seemed especially drawn to the large peacock on my skirt.
One other Volunteer, who is from Trinidad, made the comment that the outfit very nice and that it was nice to see me in clothes with more of an ethnic style to them.
Not my usual style, but I guess it worked.
I wish I had taken pictures.

Organic Sugar

It has been next to impossible to give up sugar.
And I am pretty much purchasing 80% of all of my food as organic.
I eat out a few times a week, so that makes up that missing 20%.

So... I actually found Natural and Organic Sugar.

And I found it at Ralphs .
Ralphs is starting to carry more Organic items.
I even wrote them a letter and told them how much I appreciated it.
They were very pleased to get a Nice comment, instead of a complaint.

For some reason, this sugar doesn't seem as sweet as regular sugar.
Maybe because it is pure cane sugar.
But it still is sweet and yummy. And I can put it in my coffee and not be worried about it.

Check out the Florida Crystals Website.
You can even shop on line.
And the large Jug it comes in, is perfect storage.

Cat Quote

There are two means of refuge from the misery of life - music and cats.

Albert Schweitzer

Well, I would add that there's a third and a fourth ... Movies and Theatre .
But the Cat always comes first.

Overheard in the Grocery Store

I love to eavesdrop.

I was in line at the Grocery Store, and the guy behind me gave me a little glimpse into a life I will never be a part of - nor do I want to.

He was talking on his cellphone:
"I learned a valuable lesson. Always be the one to make the first punch. Man, he hit me and my neck is killing me now.
I should have got him first. A big lesson - always hit the other guy first.
He was big too. Wears all black. Tats on his arms. He owns a Chicken. Some kind of exotic chicken. He used to own a pig.
He's in a cult. I don't know what cult. But he owns a chicken.
But he's cool man. He dates strippers. Well, I don't know if he dates strippers. I don't know if anyone can really "date" a stripper. But he chats with strippers, so he's cool".

At this point, I must have gotten a funny look on my face - because I was trying to figure out how "dating a stripper" could be the same thing as "chatting with a stripper".
And I turned around, and the guy and his cell phone were gone.

All Roads to Tibet

It was opening night for the All Roads Film Festival which is done by National Geographic in Hollywood at the Egyptian Theatre.

Tonights film was "Milarepa" .
Milarepa is considered one of Tibets Saints or Prophets.

Dinner with Friends

Nothing like a nice dinner out with friends.
We headed over to The House of Blues on Sunset and had a wonderful dinner.

They make some fancy drinks.
I ordered something with Southern Comfort and Vanilla and Brown Sugar.
I think it was called the Southern Belle.
It was really amazing. Sweet and Yummy.

Movies vs TV

Another animated film over at the Egyptian Theatre .
A Japanese animated film by Yoshifumi Kondo,
Whisper of the Heart .

I had really wanted to see this movie.
But I did my volunteer shift and I went home. So I had to miss it.
I wish I could have been in two places at once.

I needed to be home for the Desperate Housewives Premier.
There are very few TV shows that I follow, and this is one of them.
I have to keep up with Bree .... she's my favorite.
