Friday and Saturday Busy Busy

I wish I had something exciting to report. But since I work in an Accounting Department for a music company... and its our Fiscal Year End I have been very busy these last few days working.
On Saturday, I let myself sleep in. And made it into the office by 1:00 ish. I stayed until 7pm. I would rather work the later hours so I can get some extra sleep in the morning.

After work, I headed over to Ralphs to do some grocery shopping for tomorrows BBQ items. I am making both a Couscous Salad, and a Mexican Pasta Salad for the event.

I decided to run into Ross Dress for Less to see if I could find a new blouse to wear tomorrow. I found a nice red blouse with embroidery, and another flower print blouse that I liked.
I got in line behind about 4 other people.
There was only one cashier on duty. The line was getting longer. Our cashier kept leaving to go to the Customer Service desk. I guess the guy who was paying had a question about some sheets he was buying. She went back to the customer service desk twice. Leaving all the customers just standing there. And there were 3 people behind the customer service desk.
We were standing there for what seemed like ages. The people in front of me where yelling "Where's the cashier?" I just couldn't take it any longer.
None of the employees cared that the line was ridiculously long. I just threw my two items onto whatever the closet hanger was. And I left.
Just the fact that they were choosing to ignore their customers who were trying to pay, made me so mad.

I ended up going grocery shopping, and just going home to cook.
I made a Couscous Salad : Couscous, Garbanzo Beans, Scallions, tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, green bell pepper and a dressing of olive oil, garlic, parsely, basil and mint
Couscous Salad

Then I made a Mexican Pasta Salad : Fusselli pasta, kidney beans, green peas, red bell pepper, broccoli and salsa

It felt great to be cooking again. When I was in my 20s there was a Bible Study Group that would meet at my house, and I would do alot of cooking for them. I pulled out my really large tupperware containers, which I haven't used in ages. I felt good to be cooking for other people again.

Then after that was done, I went over tomorrow's lessons for the Sunday School. Its a busy day tomorrow, and I don't think I have been this organized in a while.

Flickr Photographs

I just started an account for the pictures I take with my cell phone on Flickr.com

I am still figuring out how to organize everything on the page. But I figured it would be easier that trying to post them all directly to my website.
I will still directly upload some to my website. So for right now the Flickr page is alittle bit of an experiment.

Wednesday Bible Study

I actually got up early this morning, so I could make it into the office an whole hour early. The church I attend is still having the "Summer on The Mount" bible study about the Sermon on the Mount.
Last week, I missed the dinner which is at 5:30, so I really wanted to make it there in time for dinner tonight. It was a healthy Salad Bar. The actual Bible Study started at 6:30. It all meant I had to get out of the office and hour earlier than usual.

Every week, there is a different church leader doing the Bible Study. So you get a different perspective on the Sermon on the Mount.

As I looked around the room, I realized most people are alot older than me. The people in my age range I could count on one hand. I don't know how I feel about that. If I want to be with more people my own age? Or if it doesn't matter to me ? It used to matter to me when I was younger. But now I also take into consideration that the church is a 5 minutes drive from my job. And everything is only a 10 minute drive from my house.

And I guess the most important thing is to do something for me. To do something where I feel I am learning something. Thats the main reason I wanted to come to this Bible Study. Its been such a long time since I really studied the Bible, and listened to knowledgeable people talk about it. So I think that is the most important thing. For my spiritual growth.

After the Bible Study was over, I met with the other 2 ladies that I will be teaching Summer Sunday School with. The church gave us a book to follow, from Gospel Light . So we just had to plan the schedule for who was going to teach on what day.

By the time I got home, I was pretty tired. I was now an hour behind on my sleep.

Sunday Activities

Sundays are turning out to be a really busy day for me.
I went to Church this morning. Today, Church was really full. The Pastor was taken off his leave of absence and came back. They also published the names of the speakers we will be having on each Sunday through out the summer. And this weeks speaker was Os Guinness , who gave a really interesting talk.

And after church, I joined the Activities Committee for a meeting at Starbucks in the Gower Gulch .
We are planning the Church 4th of July BBQ for next Sunday.
Looks like I will be making 2 salads: A Couscous Salad and A Pasta Salad. We also had to work out where to put the BBQs, and arrange the food.

After I was done with that, I had to run over to Egyptian Theatre for a
Volunteer Shift. We were having a Member Mingler in the courtyard. The members would come by, and we would give them a coupon for a frozen custard at the newly opened Lickity Split . In honor of our Godzilla weekend, they made Green Lime Frozen Custard and put a green Dinosaur Gummy Candy on top. The manager said they had tried to find Godzilla gummy candy, but they looked all over and couldn't find any. It was really nice that he tried. Lickity Split sounds like a fun Ice Cream place. I really liked the Lime flavor, it was tart, but not to tart and sweet, but not to sweet.

We all did our volunteer shifts, either sign-ups for the mailing list, or taking tickets or whatever. Then I had invited the other 3 volunteers on my shift, to go out for dinner.
The music company that I work for owns a Nightclub on the Sunset Strip. Part of the Nightclub is also a restaurant. As employees, we get a certain amount of money to spend in the Restaurant per Fiscal Quarter and then also in the Retail store. If I don't use it, I lose it as it doesn't roll over. So I took the three other volunteers to the Restaurant for dinner as my guests. I got a swordfish dinner which was really good. One person got steak, another chicken. And I didn't know that one was a Vegetarian. But they had a sandwich there that he liked, with cheese and tomatoes on fancy bread.
It was one volunteers Birthday, so we got chocolate cake after dinner. And I got them each a candle in the Retail store.

As you would think volunteers for a Film Organization would do, we mainly discussed movies and movie stars, and the latest Hollywood gossip.
