South Pacific

Tonight, I volunteered over at The Egyptian Theatre .
The movie was South Pacific from 1958.

After I was finished with my volunteer activities, I headed up to the balcony.
South Pacific is such a beautiful movie.
One of my favorites.
And I had to watch it from up in the balcony.

Movie Audition

This afternoon I had a wonderful audition.
It was for an indie film. A comedy. I had to portray a woman choking in a restaurant.

It was over at The Complex on Santa Monica Blvd.
I managed to drive there, audition, and get back all in one hour. My lunch break.

Not to mention that the Casting Directors and people auditioning us, were having alot of fun.
They really gave the impression that they were enjoying what they were doing.
They introduced themselves, shook our hands, and Smiled.
They were organized, and got the actors who were auditioning in and out in a flash.
Completely Professional.
So no added stress for me, the actress.

And I had a great time, very creatively choking in front of the camera.

So I had alot of fun just going on the audition.
The positive audition experience makes me really want to be in their movie.

I wish all auditions were like this.
I had a total blast.

Echo Park Evening

Tonight, even though my car is doing weird things - I drove to the Echo Park Film Center .
They had a screening of two wonderful Silent films.
Showpeople from 1928 with Marion Davies.
And A Movie Romance, which is also known as A Girls Folly from 1917.
Both were interesting looks at movie making way back in the Silent era.

The screening room was set up with couches and chairs. Very comfortable and homey.
Lots of wonderful old collectibles on the walls.
It was fascinating to just sit and look at all the interest items in their collection.

Before the show, I ran over to the Downbeat Cafe next door to grab a cup of coffee.
This looks like such a fun place to hang-out. They have jazz performances during the week. And its so cozy inside. I definitely want to check out the jazz in the near future.

Manhattan - and Car Problems

Tonight in Santa Monica, volunteered at the Aero Theatre .
Tonight's films was, Manhattan with Woody Allen.

I was really looking forward to the Woody Allen series. I haven't really seen alot of his films. So I have been thinking this will be an enjoyable event for me to catch these next few weeks.

But now what? - the Car is doing weird things.
Its not taking the hills going west on Sunset very well.
And when I accelerate, it seems to jerk or jump.

The other night it stalled. I had to turn everything off, and turn it back on.
This was coming home, late at night, on Sunset near the UCLA campus. Not a good place to be with a stalled car.
It got me home okay, but I had to keep my fingers crossed all the way.

Glenn Ford Tribute at The Egyptian

I volunteered over at Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

Tonights movie was Gilda from 1946.
And it was Glenn Ford's 90th Birthday.

My volunteer job was to do the guest list and comp table, and it was very fun.
I got to meet and greet lot of people, and lots of celebrities.

Stars who came to the event - Debbie Reynolds, Shirley Jones, Martin Landau, Terry Moore.
And of course, the Mayor of Hollywood, Johnny Grant.

Here is the official page that tells all about the Glenn Ford Birthday Tribute .

There are some pictures of the event over at WireImage.com .

The event was entirely sold out. There was a huge line of people who wanted to get into the event. But even before the show started, there wasn't one single seat left it the theatre.

It was an amazing event. Lots of fun for me as a volunteer. And very exciting for all fans of Glenn Ford !

During our break, some of the other volunteers and I headed over to Lickety Split to get a snack.
And who should walk in to have an Iced Custard - but the Mayor of Hollywood himself, Johnny Grant .

The other volunteers and I had a nice chat with him while we were on our break. He was so nice.

I snuck into the theatre, and sat on the side aisle on the floor to catch some of the movie.
It really is a fantastic and beautiful film.

Yes, this was such a fun and wonderful evening !

Things to Do This Summer

First, I saw an ad in the Hollywood Independent Newspaper, for the Tuesday night Wine and Jazz Nights that will be at Hollywood and Highland this summer starting on June 6th.

Before I knew it, I was looking around the internet for other outdoor events happening soon.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art is having their free Friday Night Jazz events all the way until the beginning of September.

And the Twilight Dance series in Santa Monica starts in June as well.

Yes, Summer is almost here.....
