I just returned from seeing Mariah Carey (amazon, ebay)at Universal Amphitheater

It was a great show - with Christmas songs such as "Gloria" and "Joy to The World" and Mariah's hit like "Vision of Love" and "Hero". I can listen to her sing Christmas songs forever. The show was very exciting with Mariah making numerous costume changes. So many costume changes I lost count.
She looked and sounded great - in top form. My only complaint was the lighting. We were sitting along the side. There were stage lights directly pointed at us. And when they flashed those lights, we had to close our eyes or be blinded. It didn't happen very often, so we enjoyed most of the show.

One of the most exciting parts, was Mariah's entrance - through the back doors of the amphitheatre, through the crowd of fans, down the aisle to the stage. Of course, she was surrounded by body guards.
We could tell something was happening because the ushers were blocking off our aisle. So we all figured Mariah was going to walk right passed us, down the aisle to the stage. This was a really exciting moment for her fans.

Thanks to the lady sitting two seats over who let us borrow her binoculars. I got to see Mariah and some of her great outfits.

My friends and I were commenting on the way home, alot of Mariah's songs are very inspirational.

This was a very Christmasy show ..... now I am in the holiday spirit !

The New York Film Critics voted Bill Murray ( amazon, ebay) as this years best actor.

The Best Director award went to
Sofia Coppola

,ebay
I saw Lost In Translation just a few weeks ago. It really is a good movie, and I hope Bill Murray gets nominated for an Oscar .
I went to see it after I saw a sneak preview of Girl with the Pearl Earring. Scarlett Johansson
( amazon, ebay) was in both films, and after seeing her outstanding performance in Girl with a Pearl Earring, I had to run to see Lost in Translation.

Other awards lately:
National Board of Review

Broadcast Film Critics

And The Golden Globes will be announced on Thursday Dec. 18th.

Gocollect.com :: Jingle, Jingle, Jingle - You Will Hear My Sleigh Bells Ring - Rudolph - Island Of Misfit Toys - 725064 (General Collectibles)

Did you watch the KISS-FM Radio Jingle Ball Rock special on FOX ?

I loved Beyonce Kowles (amazon, ebay)
version of Silent Night. I think it was the highlight of the show.

Also performing were Hilary Duff (amazon, ebay) Jessica Simpson (amazon, ebay)
and Kelly Clarkson (amazon, ebay)
It was filmed at the Los Angeles Staples Center. I have only been there once, and it was a while ago right after it opened.

Well, so much for my veg-out Monday night. After work I stopped at Office Depot to pick up a rubber address stamp for when I mail my picture and resume out to casting directors. I heated up the left overs from dinner at the House of Blues last night. Watched the Jingle Ball Special, then I'm going to watch Alicia Silverstone (amazon
ebay)
in Miss Match . Feed the cat, and then go to bed. Work tomorrow.

This is not my cat below - I would never put jingle bells on her collar.

Last night a friend and I went out to dinner.
The company I work for, House of Blues gives us an employee comp card for use in the restaurant. (I work in Accounting so, its not as "rock and roll" as it sounds.) Anyway, we went and had dinner at the Sunset Strip location. For appetizers we had the calamari and catfish nuggets. I had the special rib eye steak, and my friend ordered the chicken fried chicken. I always get the Sunset Margaritta, its the best. My friend tried the Hurricane - and that was a really good rum drink. Then for dessert I had the key lime pie, and my friend got the boston cream pie. But by dessert time, we were both so full, we only ate half.
We were trying to make it over to Theatre of Note to see the Mullholland Christmas Carol - but we didn't leave the restaurant in time to get there. I think we are going to try to to make it next weekend.

I found out that
Lloyd E. Rigler
passed away. He was one of the Egyptian Theatremain contibutors. From what I understand he was instrumental in the restoration of the theatre. I saw him numerous times when I was volunteering and he came to watch a show. He will surely be missed around the theatre.

I just read that
the corner of Hollywood and Vine
is going through a big construction, with a fancy hotel and everything. I can't wait.
The newly done corner of Sunset and Vine is absolutely wonderful, with the Borders, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Baja Fresh, and Archlight Cinemas.
They are really fixing Hollywood up, and making it a wonderful place to hang out.

Thats it for now....happy Monday to you.

On Sunday mornings, I usually like to read The Los Angeles Times Sunday paper. Cinnamon, my cat, curls up with me on the couch while I read the paper and have my coffee. Except I think this morning was to cold for her, and she decided to stay curled up in the blankets in bed.

My favorites sections of The Sunday Los Angeles Times :
The Get Fuzzy Comic Strip - anyone who has pets will get a chuckle from the stories of Bucky and Satchel, and their person, Rob
Hot Properties - this is about celebrities and their homes and who is buying what for how much. I can only dream....
LA Then and Now - Interesting stories about the history of Los Angeles
The Parade Magazine - Todays cover story was an interesting interview with Dennis Quaid
The Book Section
- The new Book I now want to buy after reading todays book section :
Mr. & Mrs. Hollywood: Edie and Lew Wasserman and Their Entertainment Empire

On the LA Times Best Seller List:
My list of books to pick up next time I am at Borders Books:
World According to Mr Rogers
Five People You Meet In Heaven
Audrey Hepburn - Elegant Spirit

Yoga for Dogs
If I had a dog, I'd get this:
But I don't. I have a cat, so oh, well....

My last book recommendation for the day, is the last book I read. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. This is actually one of the best novels I have read in a long time. I could not put it down. An interesting story set in South Carolina in 1964.

I didn't get to see any movies over the weekend. I get the entire week between Christmas an New Years off from work, so I think I will end up seeing one or two movies a day. So I am sure during that time I will be updating my long with my reviews.

On my list to see, in support of all women over 40 everywhere (Hey, I turn 45 this month, but I look 35 honestly) :
Somethings Gotta Give - There is a good interview in the LA Times with Diane Keaton in this Sundays LA Times Calendar Section. I love all the actors in this film, Diane Keaton (AMAZON....EBAY), Jack Nicholson(AMAZON....EBAY), Keanu Reeves(AMAZON....EBAY). I have to admit, Keanu is always my favorite.
An another film, in support of older actress - Calendar Girls - the previews for this look absolutely hysterical.
I hope I don't sound to feminist, but the movie and tv industry usually shuts out actresses who are past a certain age. And it is wonderful to see mature women get some really great roles. I hope the trend continues.

Ok, thats it for now. I have a fun evening planned so hopefully I will have an interesting update
for you later !

Hi there - Well, I just got back from my volunteer gig at the Egyptian Theatre.
Tonight they were showing Kill Bill. I had to do the Comp list, mainly people from Miramax. Quentin Tarantino ( amazon, ebay) was there to do a question and answer session.

After I did the guest list, the theatre was pretty full. I got my popcorn and soda but didn't feel like crawling over people to sit near a wall. So I gave another volunteer my popcorn, and took off.
Stopped off at the grocery store to pick up a few things. I was home in my jammys by 9 pm. Oh, well, I did get to see Mr. Tarantino walk through the lobby, and say hello to everyone. (The lobby of the theater, not the lobby of the grocery store....)
I spent most of the day today cleaning my aparment, and getting this Blog up and running. The cat likes it when I am home all day.

Friday, we got off of work early because it was the office Christmas Party. I was actually the last person in my department to leave for the day. I went to New Image Printing to get some postcards printed up to mail out to Casting Directors about the screening on Jan 3rd. With the holidays approaching, I think the latest I can get them in the mail is Sat the 20th, otherwise all the offices will be closed.

Well, the good news is I think I am getting the hang of this blogging thing....
