Get Rid of The Cold

I decided to go to my regular doctor and get antibiotics.
Usually they don't want to give you antibiotics for a cold - but I am scheduled for surgery, so he gave me on of the newest strongest things out there.
ZMax Antibiotic - just approved by the FDA in June.
You mix it with water once, take it on an empty stomach and it stays in your system for 10 days.
It wasn't too bad tasting - like a salty pina colada.

I waited for a bad reaction, and nothing. Alittle tummy rumble now and again, but that was it.
No weird feeling or anything. This was the easiest antibiotic I have ever taken.

Last Doctors Appointment

Today was the last Doctor's Appointment ... before the surgery.
We basically verified everything that was going to be done.
Cancerous tumor removed from left breast, bottom
Lymph node biopsy ... and any lymph nodes removed that showed cancer.

I reminded the Breast Surgeon about my hypoglycemia. And she said she would put me on a glucose drip if necessary.
Also, I told her I am to good a swallowing large pills. So she will give me a prescription for Liquid Tylenol with Codeine. yum yum.

She showed me where the incisions would be, and described how she thought my breast would look once the tumor was removed.

We went over my Workers Comp, and I got my instructions for my Pre-Op check-in and Pre-Op tests at the hospital.

Just as I was leaving, the Breast Surgeon was on the phone.
"Oh, Donna, one minute. Can you go back into the examining room. I have one more thing to talk about."
Turns out she was on the phone with the MRI doctor about the questionable material in my right breast.
The biopsy I had on Monday, just showed thick tissue. But the MRI doctor (whom I refused to let biopsy me) was insisting that it was to questionable according to her MRI, and that it be removed.
So my Breast Surgeon came into the examining room, and told me they needed to removed the material in my right breast as well, just to be on the safe side. But because there was no evidence of cancer on that side, I would not need to lymph node biopsy.

I said "Okay fine. If it had been a benign tumor, I would have asked you to remove it anyway. I wouldn't want that it there."
So since I will be out cold on anesthesia, and on medical leave, I might as well get everything taken care of.

As I left the Breast Surgeon wanted to shake my hand.
"Oh, no I have a cold."
She said she washes her hands 20 times a day. And then she gave me strict instructions to go home and rest up for the surgery.

Quick News

They called me today, Wow, that was quick.
The questionable lump in my right breast, is completely nothing.
A lump of thick tissue. Not even a benign tumor.

I said to the doctor "Isn't there something I can do about the thick tissue in my breast ? Diet or Something?"
She said "Just get old."

Biopsy - Right Side

I went to the Glendale Memorial Breast Center, for a Biopsy of the Right Breast - due to what was seen on my MRI from the Aug 5th.

Whats worse than getting a biopsy ?
Hmmm... getting a biopsy while having a Cold ?

I was on a half dose of Robitussin . The doctor said it was fine to take because it did not have any aspirin in it.
And had cough drops in my mouth during the whole procedure.

It went really quick. It took half the time as the last biopsy I had.

And I even had to see the needle going back and forth. Because I was on my left side, facing the doctor.
It didn't seem to bother me, or freak me out very much - I am sure the Robitussin was keeping me just alittle out of touch with reality.

The Cold From Hell

I guess while I was at the hospital, a big cold germ jumped on me. After having all those Contrasting Agents in my system, I guess I just couldn't fight it off.
Is that how a Cold works ? .... Do they really know how you catch a cold ? Well, thats what I think.

Those tests on Thursday depleted every morsel of nutrition from my body. And the Cold Germs threw a Party.
They partied so hard - I could barely talk. My entire voice was almost gone.

Gee, the Common Cold and Cancer ... both in my system at the same time.
Both ends of the spectrum there.
Pretty weird when you think about it.

Well, coming down with the cold got me to think. I had to quit one more thing.
I was supposed to teach todays lesson with the 3 year olds in Sunday school today. No way. I was too sick.
So I had to let them know I was quitting due to my health.
There is just to much going on, to many doctors appointments, to many medical tests. And this last thing showed me how important it is to rest right now.

So I drove to one of the other Sunday school teachers homes, and gave her my materials. I could barely talk, my throat was so sore.
But its for the best.
I need to be taking it easy.
