Creative Emmy Awards

I received a special invitation from a friend who works for The Emmys .
She got us free tickets to go see the Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium .
These are the awards for the crew, writers, sound people, editing people, etc.

So we got all dressed up and drove into downtown Los Angeles.
We arrive in the theatre, in our long evening gowns. And the first thing we want is food and drink.
It was a cash bar, and we had to pay.

I asked for a White wine spritzer, and the bartender got very confused.
I don't think he knew what to charge for a little mixed drink like that.
Then one of my friends ordered a martini - and he totally overcharged her. It was something like $17.
I just don't think he was well-trained, and didn't know much about the drinks.
But there were so many people crowded around the bar area, it was just crazy.
We found a chair and sat and ate the cheese & fruit platter that we also purchased.

So many people brought Cameras. The invitation said "No cameras" so I had left my camera in the car, because we were told we could not take pictures.
But so many people were in the lobby taking pictures.
Next time, the camera comes with me.

Our seats were way up in the nosebleed section of the balcony.
There was hardly anyone else in the balcony. So we decided to sit in the front section of the balcony.
This drove the usher into a wild craze.

We told her if the people arrived for these seats, then we would move.
But no one came, and we had great seats all night.

Penn and Teller were the hosts. And they were so funny.

We did manage to get one of my neighbors to take pictures of us in front of my apartment building before we left for the Awards.

TV Pilots at the Museum

Went to the Museum of Television and Radio in Beverly Hills.

They were showing an evening of TV Pilots of the new fall shows coming up.

The evening started off with some yummy drinks and appetizers.
The drink was a pretty blue turquoise and had vodka and pineapple juice.
My friends and I decided to go up to the top, and sit in the rooftop courtyard. It was very nice.

The evening consisted of two dramas and two comedies.
The people in front of us brought their 3 young children.
Yes, it is Television ... but ...

The first TV drama started - it was a crime drama. Some blood and guts.
I could see the married couple looking at eachother every so often.

When the second drama started, and there was a gruesome scene - they started to whisper.
Then they motioned to their three children 'Time to Go'.
And they all got up and left.

Okay - if you don't let the kiddies watch it at home on the TV set - what makes you think it will be less "adult" if it shown on a big screen in a theatre at the Museum of TV and Radio.
I don't know what they were thinking.

All in all, I thought the evening was very interesting evening. And I am looking forward to the new Fall season.

Viva Las Vegas

Another night of Elvis Presley movies over at Egyptian Theatre .
Tonight's movie was Viva Las Vegas .

So many of the men were saying they wished that we had
Ann-Margret here as a guest with the movie.
Even at her age, she is still very popular with the young guys.

Follow-up Doctor Appointment

Stopped by the doctor's office to get the results of all my tests.
Mammogram and ultrasound all look normal.

My Tumor Marker Blood Test was so low.
It was the CA 27.29, where normal is less that a 38 and CA 15-3, where normal is under 25.
I think one test came out as a 9, and the other came out as a 2.
So everything was very low.

My doctor mentioned getting a CT Scan again.
I asked "Why do I need to get that done?"
Her response was "Its been one year, and you aren't having chemotherapy."
I said "I'm not sick, I'm not having any problems. I would rather only do a CT Scan if I feel something is wrong.
And besides, last time I had the CT Scan, the contrasting liquid made me sick for days. No, I don't want to get it."

She mentioned something about seeing if my insurance would cover a Pet scan. Then she also said, if I didn't want to do the CT Scan, she would then just run the Tumor Marker Tests every time she saw me.
I said I was fine with the blood tests.
They can take my blood whenever they want.

Whew, another 6 months over and done with.

Elvis Presley Weekend

Elvis Presley movies that I saw this weekend at The Egyptian :
FLAMING STAR, 1960,
ELVIS, 2005 CBS mini-series
Jailhouse Rock, 1957
King Creole, 1958
Follow That Dream, 1967

If you have not seen "Elvis" the 2005 mini-series,, I really recommend it. It is such a good over-view of Elvis' life.
And both Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Randy Quaid were excellent in it.
