I have been very busy this past week catching up on more movies.
Stopped by my favorite place The Egyptian Theatre and saw "Unforgiven" starring Clint Eastwood(amazon, ebay).
It was one of the few Oscar nominated movies I had never seen. So when I found out the Egyptian was having a Clint Eastwood Retrospective, I ran over to see it.

Also caught "Thirteen".
Holly Hunter(amazon, ebay)was there speaking about the movie. I had a front row seat for her talk. The movie was very depressing. The acting performances are outstanding but the story line is just very troubling.

Then I saw "21 Grams". This is now my favorite Drama of the year. A very heart-renching story. It has to win the Best Screenplay, the story line is so very interesting.
For that screening, Naomi Watts(amazon, ebay) was there to
talk about the movie.

At the start of the movie something annoying happened. It was a sold-out performance. Benicio Del Toro(amazon, ebay) plays a born-again preacher type, a kind of east LA, ex-gang member type of religious person. Well, in his first two scenes about ten people were giggling whenever he said a religous line. I mean, it happened like 3 times ... he would quote the bible, and people in the sold-out audience would laugh. And I am sitting there thinking "What is wrong with these people?" Now come on, this is a serious gritty drama so these people must just be stupid. Either that, or the TV evangelists have ruined it so people can't even deal with born-again church-goers in a real life serious drama. Whatever, the behavior in the theatre was pitiful.

It is always interesting to me to attend a screening where someone from the film is talking about the making of the film. It really sheds alot of light on issues you would normally miss.

Other than that, I attended a Saturday morning Brunch with the Creative Actors Alliance. Entertainment Manager Roz Tillman spoke, and Mike Myer from Miracle Entertainment. I really do enjoy these brunches, the people that are invited to speak always have so many insites into the entertainment world.

I visted Church on The Way out in Van Nuys one Sunday morning. It is one of the largest churches in Southern California. And they have so many activities going on many different days of the week. The long drive really got to me however, so I think I might have to find a church closer to home, and maybe go to Church on the Way for special events only.
So the following week, I went back to Hollywood Presbyterian . I really like it there, but they only have Sunday morning services. I really am hoping to find a church with evening services as well. Sometimes with my acting or volunteering or whatever, I just can't make it in the morning. Oh, well, I will keep looking .....
