I look to the past tense
and I can't understand
why all those things happened
and why I was that way
and why I couldn't understand then
what I understand now

Forward on to the present
and I try to understand
but my mind, and my self
deep inside of me
blocks the understanding
of what I now am
and how I appear to others

Look towards the future
When I finally get there
I hope I will be able to understand
the present
and the past
