High School

High School Burning

I almost didn't include this one, what with all the horror stories you read these days. Needless to say, yes in 1975 I did write a poem/lyric about my high school burning down. Well, its 2003 the school is still standing. And I consider myself a valued member of society. Thus, as proof that teenagers express frustration through writing, writing about it doesn't mean you will do it, blah blah blah.... I shudder to think what might have happened to me had the internet existing back in the 70s, I'm sure I would have been expelled. I am sure if you read the other poems written around this time period, you will realize this was just a frustrating time in my teenage years.

Here we go, on the run
Here we go, having fun
Is the high school burning?

Our high school is burning
tonight
The homeroom is surrounded
by fire light
Because the high school
is on fire tonight

Our high school is flying
The school is flying away
Its all gone today

No more school
Its all really cool
Cause theres no more damn high school

We've got summer this fall
and we're having a ball
Cause the high school blew away

Is the high school burning?
Is the high school flying?
The school burnt down
And the ashed blew away
We won't have to go
to school today

We've got summer this fall
and we're having a ball
Cause our high school blew away
