Hello...and I guess its time to say "Happy Holidays!". Hard to believe Thanksgiving and Christmas
are right around the corner. Seems like just yesterday it was summer. Time flies when you are having fun !
The CD is in the duplicating process ! Yeah ! Two years of work are finally coming to
completion ! I've turned the original master and artwork into
CDS Graphics
in Glendale, California. They are printing up 1,000 copies. That means hopefully by the end of
2000 my CD will be up for sale over the Internet, and my MP3s will be ready for download.
In the meantime, I am keeping myself very busy as usual.
If you are ever in Los Angeles, I highly recommend that you check out some of the walking tours
offered by The Los Angeles Conservancy. I went on an
early Saturday morning walking tour of all the old theatres in downtown Los Angeles. These theatres
were built around the 1920s. My favorite was the gorgeous United Artists Theatre that was built
by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. Some of these theatres have been restored to their original
state, and look as good as new. There are two churchs that meet in restored theatres and they
have done a wonderful job in preserving the buildings. Others, sorry to say, have been abandoned
and left to collect dust. Some are used as storage spaces for local stores. One has even been
turned into a jewelry store. Thank heavens, the City of Los Angeles, will not allow anyone to
destroy or remodel these buildings. The stage area, balconys and walls must be left as is no
matter what, so they will always keep their original design. There is a movement underway to
revitalize this area and restore the theatre district to the way it was in the 1920s. I hope this
will happen soon.
I am still doing alot of volunteer work for The
American Cinematheque in Hollywood. There are so many great films shown there. And it is
so interesting to hear the Director, Producer or Actors speak about the making of the film.
A great place to check out Newsgroups is Deja-News. You can
search for a word, and find out what newsgroup is talking about it, even if it is an off-topic
subject for that newsgroup. In addition, when you register you get your own deja-news email, so
there is no need to worry about all those spammers finding your real email address
I have also been subscribing to some of the topics on
Egroups. This is a great service to read and email about your interests. Needless to say, I
am in groups having to do with music, movies and television. And a cool thing is that you can
read all your egroups on line at the Egroups Website - no need to have them clutter up you
inbox.
Last but not least, another great place to find people on the internet with similar interests,
is Yahoo Clubs. There are so many clubs out there to
join the list is endless. I even started my own club
Todays Women in Music. This is a club to talk about your favorite female singers and bands.
I hope you stop by and join...
Other than all that, I have been seeing alot of movies lately. "Best of Show", "Dancer in the Dark",
"The Wonderboys", "Charlies Angels", "Lucky Numbers" and "Bedazzled". I am planning to get totally
caught up before the Christmas Holidays and all those movies hit the screens
My dog, Diamond, is doing well. Spoiled as usual. Its been so cold in Los Angeles, he keeps
trying to lay by the heater. It makes him shed terribly, so I have to make sure he doesn't lay
too close.
Until next month,
Donna
