....
Hello, and Happy New Years ! Everyone is saying, 2002 can only get better. After our tragic events of last year it is a relief to start a new year and look ahead. I have learned to definately count my blessings and cherish my time here on earth.
I have had many changes in my life this past year - too many. As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I had to find my dog of 9 years, Diamond, a new home. He hated living in an apartment in the city and needed to be in a house where it was quiet. He's been gone 8 months and I still cry whenever I think of him too much. But the good news is, I adopted an older cat named Cinnamon. She is wonderful, a real doll and loves to cuddle. She is 6 years old, and I found her on a fantastic website Petfinder.Org. I can't recommend this website enough - I have been telling all my friends. You can search in your area, by the type of pet you want. It is a huge database of animal rescue organizations that is kept current and up to date. And I found that when I called on certain pets, the people taking the calls were wonderful and understanding. I made it clear that I wanted to adopt an older cat who was used to being an "only" cat. I posted a message on their message board and a woman called me who lived really close to me. Cinnamon is 6 years old, but the woman had a four year old son who was becoming very allergic to the cat. She brought Cinnamon by, and I definately wanted her. She had a rough few days at first, but adjusted quickly. (I think part of the problem could have been she smelled the dog who used to be here.)
Adopting an older pet is the best way to go as far as I am concerned: Someone else has already done all the work for you ! You get a pet thats already housebroken and social. The owner before you had to do all the work of training - you just get to enjoy the pet ! Please stop by Petfinder.Org and browse around.
I promise you that I will soon put up pics of Cinnamon on my website.
What other websites have I been surfing ? Belief.net is a wonderful
website for Spiritual and Religious discussions. I have joined quite a few of the Dialogue Groups and enjoy
reading what people have posted about different spiritual topics.
Also, if you need to research movies, The Internet Movie
Database is a great place to get lots of information about films.
Do you have New Years Resolutions ? My big one is to read more books, see more movies and listen to more music. I hope this doesn't keep me too far away from my computer.
I enjoy looking through Amazon.com and seeing what books everyone is reading. I also plan to post My Reviews on Amazon right after I read a new book. And I have been listening to more CDs. Those reviews will also be on my Amazon.com review page as well.
Two of my favorite books are The Prayer of Jabez and Secrets of the Vine. Both great Christian books by Bruce Wilkinson. I have also started reading The Prayer of Jabez Devotional every morning. These great spiritual books have been on the best seller list for weeks now.
I have also been sending out pictures and resumes to some non-union casting calls in Backstage West. I would like to start doing more acting again as well. The day before New Years, I sent out pictures and resumes to 50 SAG Talent Agencies. It would be so much fun to audition for roles like I use to years ago. If you are interested in acting, I recommend the monthly publication "The Agencies", that is published by Acting World Books. You can pick up copies at The Samuel French Bookstore.
The good news is my CD is selling like hotcakes. Both Amazon.com and CD Baby have requested more copies.
Well, I am trying a new internet service provider, since my DSL is finally gone. Hopefully it will work better, and I can keep my website more up to date, and get back to giving out my awards.
Until next time,
Donna
